There is an undeniable trait that successful men share: the ability to take risks.

You might dream of running your own business, or you may know a friend who constantly talks about starting one. The ideas and conversations are always there, yet no meaningful action follows. Valuable years pass—time that could have been spent building something worthwhile—while the goal remains only talk.

Fear can sound like preparation

Take starting a YouTube channel. People often say they want to begin, but when you ask why they have not, the excuses arrive:

“I need to get the right camera.”

“I need to do more research.”

“I don't have the time right now.”

The excuses never end, and they are the same for almost any business idea. If we are honest, what is really stopping us is fear. We are afraid to take the risk and fail. Most businesses do fail, so the odds can feel low—but that does not mean we should abandon our dreams.

“If I aim for the sun and fall, I'll land on the moon—which is still higher than where I started.”

Taking risks is a skill developed through practice. The more calculated risks you take, the more you understand that even failure can move you forward. When you pursue a business or something meaningful, every setback can teach you a lesson. You grow, your foundation becomes stronger, and the next risk becomes less daunting.

Put it into practice

How to become a man who takes risks

01

Have a meaningful goal

Identify something you truly care about. The goal has to matter enough to make discomfort, uncertainty, and effort worth it.

02

Do not wait for the perfect moment

The perfect moment does not exist. There is no better time to begin than today.

03

Research—and then act quickly

Learn what you need to know, but give preparation a deadline. Within one month of choosing your goal, start testing and implementing your ideas.

04

Accept failure as part of the process

Failure is not the end. Study what went wrong, keep the lesson, and come back stronger.

05

Surround yourself with risk-takers

The people around you influence what feels possible. Spend time with men who pursue goals, take action, and push beyond their comfort zones.

Risk does not mean recklessness. It means refusing to let fear make every important decision for you. Choose a goal worth pursuing, prepare with purpose, and then move. The man you become through taking action may be worth more than the original outcome.
